Loipe Thurner Run St. Märgen.
The Thurner Run is one of the most beautiful cross-country ski runs in Germany; it 's about 8 km away from St. Märgen centre.
Due to an altitude of 1100 m above sea-level, the run is practically always snow-covered in winter. The run can be differently used. The total length of the run is 15 km. For beginners there are short cuts of 5 and 7 km. Depending on demand and the actual snow situation, the run is illuminated in the evenings. It is regularly floodlighted on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 to 9 pm. For the actual daily snow report “Thurnerspur”, please dial 07669 1020 (winter season). Skiing across still lonely forests and moors, over hills with beautiful panoramic views and past deeply snow-covered Black Forest farms means enjoying nature and being active at the same time.
In the heated log cabin at the starting and finishing point, you can wax your skis, you can take a shower and have a solid meal. For sporting activities after work and competitive sport we have a 1.5 km long floodlight cross-country ski run. Here we also offer cross-country ski courses
The Thurner run is regularly prepared on two lanes by a piste caterpillar, so that fast, safe and enjoyable running is guaranteed. The run is well signposted, with different short cut possibilities. The Thurner run is free for everybody.
